Elijah's Attic Giveaway ENDED

We are on Day 1 of our 12 days of giveaways.  We are starting our giveaway with a wonderful etsy shop.  Elijah's Attic is owned by Chris and Jennifer Duncan of Lake Placid, FL. This is what they want you to know about them:

"We are a husband and wife team who have a passion for creating and decorating with unusual items. We love to repurpose and recycle every day items into something unusual and interesting. We love to shop junk yards and thrift stores to find interesting and vintage articles. I guess you can say we needed to turn this passion into a business because we ran out of room to display all the items we created. So we bring you Elijah's Attic to share our passion with others. Elijah is our beautiful son."

Chris and Jennifer are giving away a $25 gift card to their etsy shop.  We've made entering super simple!

First, visit Elijah's Attic and leave a comment telling us your favorite item in their shop.
Next, like Elijah's Attic on facebook and leave a comment telling us you do.
Finally, like Our Seven Dwarfs on facebook and leave a comment telling us you do.

That's a total of three comments you can leave!  You have until November 30th to enter. We will pick the winning comment using random.org.  The winner will be announced on December 1st.  We wish you all the best of luck and once again want to thank Elijah's Attic for giving our readers an opportunity to own some of your beautiful, repurposed, artwork!

Breaking Out the Thanksgiving Turkey

This is a repost from last year.  I was so excited to get my Thanksgiving decorations unpacked.  This gal is one of the main reasons why.  She is so stinking cute! What do you think?

I admit it.  I LOVE other peoples' ideas.  What's more perfect than seeing what someone else made and adapting it to fit your needs?  I am so lucky to have Jill and Lesli, my blog following gals, to send me great ideas.  From time to time, I do a little craft seeking too, but I usually let them do all the research!

I want to share some of the Thanksgiving crafts I've been working on.  Most of these are inspired by others and adapted by me.  I'll definitely let you learn from my mistakes by making suggestions.  Since these are not my originals, I don't plan on including tutorials; however, if you have any questions, I will be happy to help.

This was my inspiration piece... http://undermypolkadotumbrella.blogspot.com/search/label/Thanksgiving

Here is my final project:

I did a few things differently. First, my little gal is a lot bigger I think.  I did look at her pattern, but freehanded the turkey body and feet on mdf.  So, it turned out big, but so cute!  I also blushed her cheeks with a red stamp pad. I just used a stencil brush to dab into the ink and then put it above her beak.  I painted a white stripe on the top of her beak for a little more dimension.  I also added little white dimples and white dots in the eyes, with my white paint.  I love how this turned out!

Happy One Year Blogiversary to Us! Announcing 12 Gifts for you!!!

We officially started this blog a year ago today.  I don't think either one of us realized the time we'd invest, when we first started. There have been times where we pushed forward 100% and times when we had too many other things going on and were forced to put the blog on the back burner.

During the year, we've: gained some wonderful followers, made some fantastic "blogland" friends, and teamed up with some amazing shops for giveaways.

We are very proud of what we've accomplished and look forward to so much more in the next twelve months.

As a special thank you, for hanging with us, we've teamed up with 12 great shops to offer you exciting giveaways for the rest of the month! Make sure you're an email subscriber so you don't miss any of them!  You'll have 24 days to enter each giveaway so you'll have plenty of time.  Make sure you enter. Crock Pot Pear Butter

Recently, my house has smelled wonderfully of Fall, twice!  I had Pear Butter (much like Apple Butter) cooking away in the crock pot.

Shannon and I are members of a produce co-op.  Lately we've had an abundance, wait over abundance of pears.  Our family couldn't possibly eat all the pears that we've gotten!  That made me start thinking of what I could do with all these pears.  I perused some apple butter recipes and came up with my own version.  I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Give Them Roots Give Them Wings

I love the quote, "Give them roots and give them wings." My mom says it all the time.

I needed something to go about the bulletin board in our craft room. I took a 54"x6" piece of 1/4" birch plywood and painted it with black chalkboard paint. I planned on painting words on with white paint to make it look like a chalkboard but changed my mind and decided to use vinyl.

I used white vinyl for "give them"  and chose the font: Tiranti Solid LET.
I used tan vinyl for "roots" and used the font: Oh Photo Shoot.
I used light blue vinyl for "wings" and used the font: Waterfalls.

I really like how it turned out and think it finishes of the bulletin board space nicely.

Yoda Hat

About a month ago, my friend Amy B asked me to make her son a Yoda Hat.  I had never made a Yoda Hat and frankly had to refresh myself with Yoda.  Sorry to all you Star Wars fans!

After researching Yoda, I came up with this hat.  Check out this cute little man, Dexter.  Amy made the rest of the costume and he is just too precious.
