Ryan's Valentine Card

I have wanted to make a Valentine Card like those on all the other blogs and on Pinterest for a couple of years.  This year I did it.  Wow, it was so easy and cheaper than buying the flimsy paper Valentines you get at the store.  These cost me $2.75 to make since I already had some lollipops to use.

Here is my Ryan in his Valentine Card for his classmates:

I took the picture on our new camera and then uploaded it to the computer.  I edited it in Picnik (very upset that it will be closing down soon) and added the greeting.  I sent it off to Sams and picked it up this morning.  Then I took my exacto knife and made a slit at the top of his hand and bottom of his hand.  Then just slide in the lollipop.  I saw someone else use a glow stick for their Valentine as well.  That is a great idea that kids will love.

I am looking forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with our family.  We are taking the kids roller skating and I got them "The Lady and The Tramp" movie.  They've never seen it before. I have to be honest and say that I really wanted the movie as it has always been a favorite of mine, but I will use my kids as an excuse to get it on DVD.

Have a very Happy Valentine's Day!

Crochet Heart Hair Clip

The other day I made some heart hair clips for my daughter and for an order in my shop.  They were so easy to make that I wanted to give you an easy tutorial.  These hair clips can be attached to any hat or directly in the hair.

Are you ready for a very easy tutorial?

Cake Decorating Class

I have always wanted to take a cake decorating class.  I see all these amazing cakes on Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, and Pinterest and I am envious of their talent.  Now, I don't plan on going profession with any newly learned decorating skills, but it would be nice to make some nice gifts or cakes for my children's birthdays.

I am taking the Wilton Basics class from our local Joann's store.  Yesterday was my first class.  I convinced my friend Jen to take the class with me.  We both have little ones and don't get out just to ourselves very often.  It is nice to just spend time with each other without little ones running around.  Jen has some experience decorating cakes, but she wanted to learn all the ins and outs.  I will have to convince her to send me some pictures of her cakes and a mini tutorial as they are amazing!

Let me share with you some of my first attempts at decorating and a great video tutorial on putting together clean icing bags.
