Mama's Peach Cobbler Recipe

My Mama makes the best cobbler.  I have loved it ever since I was a young girl.  This recipe is for a Peach cobbler, but you can use this recipe with just about any fruit and have a fantastic recipe.

This recipe is the perfect mix of fruit, crunchy topping and gooey inside.  Can you get better than that?

Peach Cobbler Recipe

I will explain the steps of this cobbler with the ingredients and then have the full recipe at the bottom of the post.
Filling:
1 quart of fresh fruit (peaches in this case) cut to bite-sized pieces
1 cup of sugar

Mix fruit and sugar together and set aside so that they can have time to mix well.

Batter:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Place a stick of butter in a deep baking dish and put in oven to melt.

In a mixing bowl, combine the following:
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 cup of milk

Pour mixture on top of melted butter.  DO NOT STIR!

Arrange fruit on top of batter.  DO NOT STIR!  Batter will raise to the top as it bakes.

Bake cobbler for about an hour.  For apples and peaches, you can also add cinnamon and nutmeg for additional flavor.  I would not suggest that for berries.

Above is what it looks like when it is finished cooking.  The top will be crunchy.

Scoop out onto your dish for a wonderful dessert.  For added tastiness, serve with vanilla ice cream.
