Cat in the Hat Crochet Hat & Bow

In case you didn't know, March 2 was Dr. Seuss's Birthday.  Ryan's (my oldest) elementary school was having a day filled with fun activities for the kids to celebrate Dr. Seuss and his birthday.

One of the activities that occurred was a school parade.  Any child, teacher, or staff member who dressed as a Dr. Seuss character could walk in the parade.  Ryan begged and begged for me to help him dress like The Cat in the Hat.  He actually thought I would make him a whole tuxedo like outfit.  He was dreaming on that one.  I did however crochet him a hat and bow-tie that mimicked The Cat in the Hat's attire.

In my normal mode of preparedness, I started working on it the day before.  Ha!  He gave me a deadline and I had to meet it.  Thankfully, the laundry and dishes could wait for such an important occasion.

I think both turned out quite well.  He was very pleased with how he looked.

The hat got a bit stretched out from his wearing it most of the day, plus his Daddy thought he would be funny and try it on, which made it even worse.  We stuffed it with some shopping bags to give it extra height, but it could use some more.  Next time I think I might use tissue paper.

I don't usually create patterns right off the top of my head, but I wanted to do something special for Ryan.  Plus, I didn't want to spend the time or money searching for a pattern that would fit.  Therefore, I created my own.  It worked.

It was effortless to make this pattern and I do love our readers, therefore, I thought I would share the pattern for free.  There is one small catch. since I won't be making any money off this pattern, I would like to gain some exposure to my shop.  If you head over to my facebook page Jilly's Boutique and like my page, I will be posting the link to download the pattern in the next couple of days.  I might even put my other patterns in pdf form over there for easy download as well.  You don't want to miss out!

Happy Crafting!

    1. I'm sorry Kay! I have been so busy preparing for my move that I forgot all about it. Give me a couple of days to find the pattern again and I will get it up on my FB page! Thanks again for the reminder! ~Jill
