Pinterest Picks of the Week 10/27

I have some great picks for your today.  Enjoy!

Click on the picture for more information.

I love how Sew Kate Sew transformed this sweatshirt into a really cute jacket.  I recently saw something like this on Etsy for $80.  I know I wouldn't pay that, but I would definitely try this tutorial!

Featured!

Shannon & I (Jill) have been working hard on our blog for almost a year now.  We've shared our projects on many linky parties as we go.  Many great blogs have sent new followers our way.

We are very appreciative of them giving us some free advertising.  Some of these blogs have been extra good to us and have featured our work.  We want to pay them back with a little love from us!

Go visit these sites and hopefully, you will see some of our work along the way!

Apple Cake

It's apple season.  If you're like us, you'll have the opportunity to pick your own delicious apples. Thank goodness for the beautiful orchards in the Georgia Mountains!

My mom makes a fantastic apple cake.  Jill suggested I share the recipe with you. It's super easy.

Pablo Hat (from The Backyardigans)

My nephew loves the cartoon, The Backyardigans.  I thought my kids liked it quite a bit, but Drew surpasses their love.    His favorite character is Pablo.  I agree with him, Pablo is my favorite as well.

Since I had made him an Elmo hat that he loved, my sister asked me to try my hand at a Pablo hat.  She sent me a few examples, but I put my own spin on it.  Here is my adorable nephew, Drew in his new hat. My sister says he wears it all the time.

Great Things-Whimsy Couture Sewing Patterns & Giveaway!

It's Monday and time for another Great Thing!  I am very excited to share today's Great Thing, Whimsy Couture Sewing Patterns.  Denise is the fabulous seamstress behind Whimsy Couture.  Like many of us crafty Moms, her business came out of making clothes for her first child.

Whimsy Couture

If you like boutique clothes or all those custom clothes you find at craft fairs, then you will love these patterns.  They are absolutely adorable!  I have six of Denise's patterns so far and they are amazing!  The directions are very clear and easy to understand.  Even if you are new to sewing, these are patterns you can conquer.

Unlike most patterns, Whimsy Couture patterns are for a big span of sizes.  You are't just getting small sizes, most of them go to teenagers and some are even for adults!

Let me show you some examples of these fantastic patterns:
This is absolutely precious and would be perfect for any photography session.

Candy Corn Earflap Hat

I love how my family and friends are sending people my way who need something made.  I've actually had quite a bit of business prior to even opening my section of the etsy shop.  This makes me incredibly happy as it feeds my craft habit and allows me to make some money enjoying what I do!

My friend Heather, who I attended high school with, emailed me about making a crocheted candy corn hat for a friend of hers.  I did some research and found some sample hats and then went about making my version.  Check it out and tell me what you think.

Candy Corn Countdown Tutorial

My obsession with candy corn continues!  The other night (when I should be sleeping), I had the idea of using up my leftover felt and making a candy corn decoration.  Don't ask me why I had leftover white, yellow and orange felt.  I am sure I had some craft in mind when I bought it, but since then I have forgotten it.  Doing a countdown where my kids could move something to the next day would be fun and festive.

Let me share how I made this cute hanging countdown.
